What am I suppose to do with the Tumblr DB?! - Database Man - 06-02-2016

So, apparently the Tumblr db doesn't contain the salts for any of the passwords rendering pretty much the whole thing useless.
I heard there was a a list going around of the most commonly used passwords but I'm not sure how that would help.

I don't want to use it for phishing but am really just asking if there is any way to use this db and get the passwords for the hashes

You can make email lists based on the database for spammers. Or sell the whole database to spammers.

When I said phishing this is what I meant, anyways its a public db thats 3 years old so it won't be worth much of anything

Then you'd be selling it while not actually doing the deed yourself, isn't that what you meant? Not doing phising yourself. Anyway I see, I would keep it around incase the salts actually do turn up somewhere.
