Is it possible to hack a device remotely?
#1
Hi guys. I'm new on greysec and I'm not sure if I'm on the right forum to ask. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it very much. I believe I was hacked by some ppl I don't know on Twitter. It's a long story, but I'm pretty much sure this isn't just paranoia. I've been exchanging subtweets with them on my priv Twitter and in some way they like to provoke me. I'm using an anon identity and already went private but they still can read my tweets. They have remote access to my devices.. inluding my phone camera. I'm trying to trace everything and think how they were able to do that through me being on Twitter? Is it really possible for them to remotely hack my devices?

If they have access to your camera you might have a RAT, have you clicked any weird links?
Run a malware scan and format your pc if you want to stay on the safe side.

So you suspect that it's just your phone that has been affected? Or your computer as well? We're going to need some more information before we can give you any meaningful advice. Such as;

Which devices are affected.
Which operating systems are running on these devices.
What are some indicators of compromise that you have found.
Have you run packet capture software to see potential command and control communications.

Thank you for the replies! The thing is I don't remember clicking a link nor communicated with them through direct messages. I tried formatting my pc and doing factory reset on my phone (multiple times) and they still somehow try to provoke me by posting indirect tweets that relate to my current online activities. I even created a new anonymous Twitter account using a new email address and set in on private just to prove my suspicion, and tried to get a reaction from them.. that's why I know they still can access my devices. Can someone connect me to someone who can hack a Twitter account? Is this the right forum for such requests? I would appreciate if someone can help me. Thank you

I suspect that all my devices are affected - laptop, desktop pc and my phone. I tried formatting/factory reset and wiped out all the data, but I'm pretty sure they still have access.Could you help me run a packet capture software?

Is there a software that can trace who compromised my devices or hack a Twitter account. I'm really desperate. This has been going on for months. I already tried tweeting them but these bullies don't really know how to quit me. Grateful to anyone that can help me. Thank you

delete your twitter, and stop antagonizing hackers. But my gut tells me this whole sob story is really just a round about way of

trying to get someone to hack a twitter account for you.

If you want them to stop, change your email and account passwords to something new/unique, and factory reset/format/reinstall everything on your devices. I highly doubt anyone has gotten firmwmare/bios level/persistent malware on your devices. And then don't:

Twitter is full of doxxers and hackers altogether. If I knew that I was going to be hacked, I should've stayed away from that site. How will I make sure that they won't be able to access my devices? I already formatted my devices (multiple times!!!), change my passwords but I'm pretty sure they can still keep track of my online activities. Would hiring a pentester the best option for this? Please advise, thank you.

What leads you to believe you're still compromised then?
I sure hope you're not using the same User/PW on other sites, or had accounts linked.

you sound paranoid. I don't know any hackers with the skills you think they have, that would waste their time and energy on you. So:

1. You've really pissed a really good hacker off

2. You're doing stupid shit that's allowing these people to hack/track/harass you.

3. You're paranoid, and it's all in your head

If it's (1) you need to take your devices to a PC repair shop (cause it seems like you don't have these skills) and have them completely wipe and reinstall everything right down to the firmware. Or sell your devices and buy new ones. And then stop pissing off top notch hackers/doing stupid shit.

If it's (2) stop doing stupid shit. Stop using twitter, stop antagonizing, stop doing whatever it is you're doing that's getting their attention. Cause clearly you don't have whatever skills are needed, to protect yourself.

If it's (3), see a therapist.

In none of these scenarios is a pen tester, or hacker, going to be of any help to you. In fact if you come to a forum like this, and seek to have someone try hacking/securing your shit, you're an idiot. Leads me back to point (2) - stop doing stupid shit.

Thank you for the advice! but could you skip the rudeness for me. I don't want anything from you then, you're not really helping the me, the victim, by calling me an idiot. I have all the reasons to be paranoid, because these motherfuckers hacked into my camera and pretty much have recordings of me. I'm not THAT stupid to antagonize the hackers because even when I don't say something and stay on the low, they also try to provoke me. Okay chill out if you can't help me with the penetration testing.

I lurk on their Twitter after I supposedly wiped out everything. This has been going on for months. I may have to hire a freelancer pentester if no one can help me do it for me on this forum. Thanks anyways!
