LAMP, LDAP, and PostFix, Ubuntu VM security and monitoring measures?
#1
So I have made a VM of Ubuntu with all of that installed. Now I need to add in some common security and monitoring measures and I am having a hard time because whenever I google it I get results about how to install LDAP and some wikipedia articles
How do I secure LAMP, LDAP, and PostFix?

Does anyone have an article on it I could read of some sort of official documentation?

I'm going to do you a disservice and google this for you. Really you should be trying to look this up yourself, otherwise you won't learn.

Lamp AKA:
More info: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=lamp-security-harde...22*2019%22

LDAP: https://www.openldap.org/doc/ Security - https://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/security.html
Postfix: http://www.postfix.org/documentation.html - http://www.postfix.org/docs.html

Security sanity:
- Keep your software and system up to date with the latest stable release.
- Do not blindly copy configurations from the internet. Read them and understand them.
- Follow official documentation and recommendations.
- Follow least privilege approach. Example: don't put a root database account in control over your web application. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_..._privilege

So you have some stuff to read up on now probably. Easy to get overwhelmed by documentation but I recommend seeing the security sections of it. For any specific questions you're wondering about in the documentation, if you're confused by anying etc I'm more than willing to help. It's easier to help with specific questions rather than broad and vauge questions.

Thanks Insider. Your the best.

I really should look this stuff up on my own. I already had the LAMP server installed before asking so I was just asking about security portion of it.

That said, I really do find the links you sent to be helpful.

Thank you so much!!!

You can lower my rep now since I asked a bad question. I apologize.

Don't worry about it. Just think about it next time, ask questions the smart way. It will benefit both of us.
