Plain difference is that Tor facebook is on tor. Clearnet facebook is on clearnet. It's that simple. They're both the same website.
How they communicate with each other on the backend is beyond my knowledge. But sign up with onion I'll bet your ass they'll ask for ID verfication. Facebook hates anonymity.

On a slightly related note, what does Facebook consider valid identification?

From the official Facebook website : Quote:You have several different options for this, including photo IDs issued by the government, IDs from non-government organizations, official certificates or licenses that include your name or other physical items like a magazine subscription or a piece of mail. & Quote:To help us prevent fake IDs and other abuses, we don't accept photos that have been digitally modified to hide information. SOURCE: If you want, you can check all the information yourself, you do not need an account for that, here is the link : https://www.facebook.com/help/582999911881572/

Ok,ok...I did not understand the meaning of a fb.onion. if it's the same site. I thought it was a pirate site capable of interfacing with fb clear, while maintaining anonymity. Sorry I don't understand much about computer science I don't know if this could be possible. Probably it was a stupid thought. The fact is that I just didn't understand the meaning of fb.onion. For me Western citizen fb.onion makes no sense, I guess for a Chinese it makes sense. However, the only verification that fb asks is a valid phone number, on the clearweb I mean.

They're both the same website. No problem. The FB onion site is an official mirror ran by facebook themself. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebookcorewwwi.onion For a clearnet user it's probably not a problem. But in my experience, using any sort of tor together with facebook and they will try to ask for more identification. But of course you could fake it. |
